  • Spine on C: Drive

Hi Esoteric Team,

I have a large Spine folder on my C: Drive which is entirely out of space. I need to free up additional space on my C: Drive and I noticed the Spine folder. Is it important to keep the Spine folder on the C: Drive, I know certain folders are required to stay on the C: Drive specifically. I have a larger E: Drive where I place most of my folders. Can I simply move this folder to the E: Drive?

What folder? You can just move the Spine installation folder anywhere you want. If it's the Spine folder is your user folder, then you would need to change in Windows where your user folder is at. However, you can delete any temp, cache, and update folders folders found in your Spine user folder. You can also delete the backups folder, though it contains saves of older versions of your projects which can come in handy in a disaster. The rest of the files in your Spine user folder are very small.

I just moved all of the folders to the E: Drive and everything is still working fine. I just had to redirect spine to the project to open it as I think I broke the established links to the projects in the GUI when you first open spine.

I guess the "Spine folder" was your own folder containing Spine projects. You can move that anywhere. Ideally you use relative paths to find images/audio in the projects, otherwise you just need to fix that up in the tree in Spine.
