  • Problem in crop animation export

Hi! I'm trying to automatically crop an animation in the export panel, but it doesn't seem to calculate the space correctly. I've tried before with a different project and it worked alright, but, with this one, it doesn't work. I want to know what's happening. I got this project from another animator.

In the other project, whenever I deselected and selected the crop tick in the panel, it recalculated the cropping size to fit the new image. When I do the same thing in this project, though, it creates a bounding box that's too small for the character. This happens with all the character's animations.

I've tried to fix it in a couple of different ways.
The problem doesn't seem to be with the image folder, because the previous animator was having the same problem. The cropping also doesn't care if it's a simple image or a mesh. The root bones also seem to be in normal scale.

Of course, I can just adjust the cropping size in the preview tab. But I wanted to know what's happening, so I can avoid having the same problem in the next projects.

LaisLH Sorry for the trouble! Does your skeleton have clipping attachments? If so, there is a known bug that has been fixed in 4.2 (unreleased version). If you are using no clipping attachment and are experiencing this problem, could you please send us a Spine project via email so that we can reproduce the problem?: contact@esotericsoftware.com

Misaki Yes! It does have clipping attachments. It's one of the few things that this project had, but not the other one. I just thought it was unlikely to be the problem lol. So I just have to wait for the new version to come out, right?

Generally that’s right, but 4.2 will be released as a beta version first, so it will be a long time before the stable version of 4.2 is released. It does not matter if you are using the Spine editor only for exporting images and videos, but if you are using your animations in video games or other applications with Spine runtimes, please be cautious when deciding whether or not to update to the beta version.

As a workaround in 4.1.19, you can make the clipping attachment inactive first, open the export window, select the format you want to use, check Crop to set the crop size, close the export window, and then make the clipping attachment active.
