Hehe.. nice to make your acquaintance, Mr. N! 😃

Well, I'm getting bored. So, although I have again noticed a couple of things that I could change (too late of course... always see these things when I'm posting updates on the web :/ ), I've decided to make this the final iteration and move on to something different.

Just out of curiosity... Judging from the thread titles and a couple of topics I've looked into so far, it seems that pretty much everything posted here seems to be advertising games and stuff. Nothing wrong with that. It's good to see the program put to good use. I've just been wondering if anybody is using Spine for just-for-fun-stuff. I'm still in the learning phase and will do some "business things" with it later, too. But I'll also go on using Spine for my silly hobby stuff 🙂

Think about weight? I've heard that before. You're Mr. Nielsen from the videos, right? 😃

I'll go on tweaking this animation a little more and post the result later. And I totally agree.. I really overdid it with the arms. Already fixed that part and I think it looks a bit more natural now. I'll probably add some eye-blinking as well, maybe something else if I can make something up.
Though you seemed to have misunderstood my "not sure what to do next". With that I meant I'm undecided on what kind of animation/movement to do next, when I'm done (or fed up.. whatever happens first 😃 ) with the ol' boring walk cycle. If anybody got an idea, just let me know and I might try to put it into practice.

Thanks for you feedback, Shiu, I really appreciate it 🙂

I'm still new to Spine myself and thus can't say for sure if it's possible to copy animations between characters/skeletons. But from what I understand, animations can be reused if the skeletons are equal in both the number of bones, the hierarchy as well as the bones' names. I've imported animations (from the main menu => Import project) from different older revisions of a test project I've been working on into one big project file. The skeleton was the same in all these files and importing single animations worked without problems. Maybe you can do it this way, too, assuming skeleton A and B have the same bone setup.

Maybe someone more experienced can confirm this or has another solution?

Hahaha.. well yeah, realism isn't exactly my biggest strength.. and highly overrated imho. Much more fun to draw people that don't look like your average everyday person ;D Thanks for your comment.

I adjusted the animation, following a suggestion somebody on the Inkscape forum gave me, to look into the "breaking elbow" concept (or whatever it's actually called). Looks like his arms were made of rubber.. but I think it fits his overall appearance. On the left there's the very first attempt I made a couple of days ago, next is the one I already posted and on the right the current version. Not quite sure what to do next though. I don't want to go on fiddling with and bore people to death with updates of one and the same animation forever (although I'm aware that it's still far from perfect..). I'm open for suggestions...

    Heya all..

I've been playing around with the program for a little while, but just purchased a license today. I'll use this thread to post whatever I might feel worthy of showing publicly in the future. My experience in animation is limited to small-scale pixel stuff that I've done in the past, mainly for a bunch of hobby game projects that were never finished (sounds familiar? 😃 ). Hopefully I'll make some good progress in this field soon. Apart from that I'm at home in both the analog and digital art sector, working mostly with (colored) pencils and vectors and sometimes pixels.

Enough of the introductory babbling. Here's a test character I drew in order to have something to play with and get used to Spine. The cycle is admittedly still kinda rough and giving him such extreme proportions certainly wasn't the best idea.. nevertheless I think I'll just stick with this dude for some further experimentation.

And here's an earlier still image showing him in idle pose and before I added the simple shading (yes, in Spriter.. cough).

I'll report back when there's more to show. Thanks for stopping by.
