  • IK Issue Add Bone V01

Hi Everyone. Im new to the forum and relatively new to Spine.
I have built a full animation in spine, human character, arms legs etc.... Run, walk, shoot etc...
I have animated all the arms to shoot in the correct positions. This I have set up with IK handles on the ends of the arms(on the hands). The bones are shoulder to elbow : elbow to end of hand. Originally we wanted to keep it simple an have the hand and forearm as one image/bone- > that connects to the final IK Handle. But now we feel we need more control/positioning of the hand when shooting. This means "adding a new bone (for the wrist/hand) inside or before the IK handle!! The problem is we already have many animations set up with this current skeleton IK. If I add a bone to the chain it breaks the way the original IK positions are.

So my question is: Is there a way to add a new bone behind the original IK handle that does not effect the original IK animation key positions? Otherwise I'm looking at re-animating ALL moves after making a new bone and IK.

I did look on the net for answers and could not find😉
Would much appreciate any advice thank you,
Will01

Hi Will, it's a little hard to understand if there's an easy or hard solution for this without seeing at least a screenshot of the structure (or even better, the project! with the part you want to add and how you would have wanted to add it) can you let us see? Otherwise I think I can only give vague answers.

You could just need to add the bone before and reparent, or after and reparent, or as a child of a bone in the IK that you can orient, or maybe you need to radically change structure and redo everything. Can't really tell for now.
