This maybe a strange question, but how easy it is to animate 3D-looking characters in Spine? I have a client that needs me to animate an intro but the characters look like 3D models. It was originally supposed to be animated in Maya but then decided to switch to Spine instead.

Basically my question is, is it possible? And also, how to do it? Thank you

Aren't those 2D models given a 3D like affect? I'm talking about actual 3D looking models that look like this. I'm suppose to make a animated introduction to their game using spine, using models like these.

If by 3D models you mean actual three dimensional models, i.e. x/y/z per vertex, then I'm afraid Spine is not the way to go. Spine supports 2D meshes only. 3D effects can be animated as in the thread Nate linked to earlier.

Sorry if I'm being vague. It is kinda hard to describe unless I show it (Unfortunately I can't)

They didn't give me 3d Models, they gave me 3D renders. The 3D renders are being used as a stand-in for the 2D models. Basically, they render the model in 3D and make a 2D image of it.

I don't think you can. I have very limited knowledge in Spine but watch this video

You have to fill in the gaps when you cut out the body parts of the image. If it was 2D image, you can just simply draw it but if it was originally a 3D render turn 2D, I don't think you can.

I hope that was clear. Hopefully someone can answer this better than I did.
