Misaki I think adding the option is technically possible, but since the request to always have Separate turned on is actually quite rare, could you please provide a detailed explanation of why this is necessary, so we can use it as a reference?
I don't technically want it always ON, I want it to just remember the state it was left in when I closed the program (which in my case always happens to be on). It wouldn't actually effect anyone who never touches it, and would just act like most other bools in the program that don't reset on restarting.
Misaki As Spinebot suggested, if you hold down the Alt key and adjust the angle of one handle, it will automatically switch to “Separate” mode without having to press the “Separate” button, so it’s true that you don’t necessarily have to turn the button on first in order to separate the handles.
because I don't use the graph view at all. I use the dopesheet and the curves preset editor. When using curves presets the separate option being off causes unexpected behaviors from the presets when compared to pre 4.0 behaviors (before the graph existed). As a result I work exclusively without the graph and with the Seperate button ALWAYS true in the curves editor.
again what I'm asking for would have no effect on anyone who never touches this bool in the first place and would only help those of us who do change it either always or from time to time. Other bools stay in the state they are left between program resets, so I'm just curious if there was a way for us to have it be the case on this (and the only reason i suggested an ALWAYS ON option in the settings was if saving that state was somehow going to be problematic).
thanks!
edit: just to add more clarity, I only mean the 'Separate' bool that is present in the 'Curves' window, not the one present when selecting a node in the 'Graph' window.
