  • Photoshop script to Spine

Hi!
I have my character in Photoshop, with its parts separated into multiple layers to be animated in Spine. The tutorial I'm following shows that I should go to File > Scripts > Browse to open the Photoshop to Spine script. The tutor is using a PC, and I can see from the file path that the script is located in the Spine installation folder—specifically under Program Files (x86) > Spine > scripts > Photoshop.

However, I'm currently using a Mac and I can't find any subfolders in the main Spine installation directory. I'm also using the free trial version, so I'm wondering if the script is unavailable in this version or stored somewhere else on macOS.

Thanks in advance!

It sounds like your tutorial is somewhat old. We no longer distribute the scripts in the Spine installation folder, because it led to people using very old scripts. The latest PhotoshopToSpine script is found here:

However, the modern way to bring a PSD into Spine is using Import PSD:

Import PSD is much faster and has a few more features. It also means you can also use non-Photoshop software, like Affinity Designer or free software, to create a PSD you can bring into Spine.

Got it! That actually makes more sense than the other method - and definitely seems faster. I hadn’t even noticed the import settings. Super helpful, thank you!
