  • My image colors are changing when i import them

    Hi everyone, i hope i can explain myself, my English is not very good. I have a problem with my images. I compared them in photoshop and in spine, i see difference with their colors. They seems more orange in spine and i did not find any reason for it. Did anyone had the same problem and could you solve it?

    It sounds like you are experiencing a color management issue when importing images into Spine. This can happen if the color profiles of your images are not compatible with Spine's default settings. Spine does not perform color management, so if your images are in a color space other than sRGB, such as Adobe RGB, you might see color differences. To resolve this, ensure that your images are saved in the sRGB color space before importing them into Spine. Additionally, check if your monitor's color profile is affecting the display, as Spine uses the sRGB color profile by default unless color management is enabled.

      I double checked the color space, it is RGB in my photoshop file, i also reviewed the Spine settings but i still couldn't find the source of the problem. I placed my photoshop file and my spine file next to each other and compared, the color difference is so obvious.

        Aside from using sRGB and NOT CMYK, please also make sure you have the correct proof colors on to avoid surprises on export. You can check that RGB is selected by going in View > Proof Setup, then making sure CMYK color isn't selected, or simply by deactivating proof colors.

        If that is not the issue then next you may want to change your color management in Spine:

        rakursi i also reviewed the Spine settings but i still couldn't find the source of the problem.

        Did you enable Color Management in the Spine Editor settings under Application - General?
        See the documentation here:

        If you e.g. have a calibrated wide gamut monitor, then Photoshop will display images vastly different than Spine unless you enable Color Management which then also respects the monitor calibration profile (ICC profile).

        Note that Photoshop and the Spine Editor are only half of the pipeline. If your used game toolkit or engine does not respect your monitor profile (and I know none that does), you will get the same result as in Spine with disabled Color Management setting. So it might be of little use unless your complete pipeline is color-managed.

        Also be sure to use Linear or Gamma color space consistently in all applications in your pipeline. E.g. change the color space in a new Unity project from the default Linear to Gamma color space.

              Thank you for the replies. I think the problem is that i don't have "color management" setting. Currently i am using the latest version of Spine (4.2.38), but when i change my version, i could able to enable the "Linear" or "Gamma Blending". After i reopen Spine, the result is in the image. I hope i could upload the image.

                Black screen when changing from Linear to Gamma Blending is a bug fixed in newer Launcher versions. Please, update the Launcher to the latest version. You can get the installer from your license page.

                      Davide Thank you all for helping. I updated my program and "Color Management" setting become selectable and it fixed my color issue. But a new problem showed up when i change my setting from "Gamma Blending" to "Linear". My workspace has changed after i change the setting as you can see in the image. It may be a bug idk. I can continue without changing it, i am sharing it just for a notice.

                          rakursi Hmmm, I tried enabling Color Management - Linear in 4.2.38 and could not reproduce this display problem. Does this problem occur after restarting the editor? Does it display like this when I start it on my Mac PC monitor instead of an external monitor?

                                Misaki I'm sorry I reply a little late. After i select Linear setting, i save it and and restart Spine then this screen appears. I have only my Mac PC monitor, not any other external monitors.

Could you post the start.json file in your user folder here so we can see all your settings? If you have not changed the installation folder, you should find it in the following location:

                                          Misaki I'm not a Mac user normally, unfortunatelly i must have save it another location, i tried to search in the computer but i couldn't find it. And to be honest, i don't remember to change the location but still can't find it.

I could confirm that you also changed the Interface scale and font, but the same settings did not produce the same display state on my end. Could you post the spine.log file in your user folder?                                                               You'll see there hotkey settings problem. I think it has been changed by the animator before me.

                                                                  rakursi Thanks for showing us the spine.log file! I wonder if this error might actually have some negative impact on the startup process. Could you try moving the hotkeys-1.txt file to a different folder? If Spine can't find it in the settings folder, it will automatically create a hotkeys file with default settings at startup.

                                                                        Misaki You're right. It did automatically create a new hotkey file when i restart Spine. Was it also supposed to fix the Linear Blending problem? It did not change it. But i am not having warning about hotkeys anymore. Thank you!

                                                                          You have an ARM Mac (M1). To be sure, are you running the ARM Mac version of Spine? If you have the Intel Mac version of Spine, you should download the ARM version from your Spine license page.

                                                                              I am not a Mac user, i searched for which option should i choose to download and i choosed "Apple Silicon 11.1+" option. I don't know about ARM version.
