  • ERROR: Audio disabled, OpenAL could not be loaded:

Audio is not working for mac ventura 13.
Upon starting a spine project, I receive the error message:
Starting: Spine 4.2.38 Professional
Spine 4.2.38 Professional
WARNING: Launcher out of date. Reinstall to improve performance.
ERROR: Audio disabled, OpenAL could not be loaded:
[error] Unable to extract LWJGL natives.

I also read online that Mac deprecated OpenAL would this be the reason why the error occurs? Is there a way around this?

Also I could not find out how to reinstall the launcher. I read a few remarks stating that the launcher should not need to be manually updated.

The error message you're encountering indicates that the OpenAL library, which Spine uses for audio, could not be loaded. This might be related to macOS Ventura's deprecation of OpenAL, but it could also be due to an issue with the Spine installation. To address this, you should try reinstalling the Spine launcher. You can do this by downloading the latest installer from your Spine license page and running it to update your installation. This should ensure that you have the latest version of the launcher, which might resolve the issue with OpenAL. Additionally, make sure your system is up to date and that no other software is interfering with Spine's operation.

wlg Try updating the Spine Launcher as recommended by Spinebot. I can't tell from the logs you showed us what version of launcher you are actually using, but there is a relatively recent release of the launcher that includes a fix for audio, so if you are using an earlier version, updating the launcher may fix the problem.

To update the Spine Launcher, download the latest installer from your licence page and reinstall Spine. The current version of the launcher is 4.2.18. If you see this number in the bottom right corner of the launcher window, the update was successful:
