Hi, Spine has this Photoshop to Spine Script to make it automatic so the character appears in Spine in place.... BUT is there some script that will also create a basic spine skeleton? Thanks
Automatic skeleton creation script?
The Photoshop to Spine script can indeed help automate the process of importing character images into Spine, and it can also create bones if you use specific tags in your layer names. For example, you can use tags like [bone:head]
in your Photoshop layers to define bones, which will be created when the JSON data is imported into Spine. However, there isn't a script that automatically creates a complete skeleton with all the necessary bones and rigging without some manual setup or tagging in Photoshop. You can find more information and the latest version of the script on GitHub.
A generic skeleton wouldn't be very useful, as you need the skeleton to match your images. Creating the bones manually is very easy.
The Photoshop script isn't mainly for creating bones (it can, but you will need to adjust them), instead it's for creating attachments for each of your images.
Note you no longer have to use Photoshop. Spine 4.2 can read a PSD directly, just like the Photoshop script (but with more features and MUCH faster). This means you can use image editing software other than Photoshop, save a PSD, and then give it to Spine. Most image editing software can save a PSD. You can use free software, like Gimp, or paid software, like Affinity Designer.
