  • Spine2d to Blender

Hello, how are you? Could you assist me with this question I have?

Have any of you been able to import an animation exported from Spine2D into Blender? Have you successfully imported any characters or animations from the .json file?

I have some characters created for a video game, and I would like to create an 2.5D animation in Blender for the intro, but I can't figure out how to import an animation file in good quality.

Or would the solution be a webm video? I thought I might be able to access it from the JSON file.

nimuuuuu Unfortunately, no one seems to have created a plugin to import animation data created in Spine into Blender. If you want to load animations from the exported JSON file, you will have to write the script yourself.

The documentation for the JSON data format can be found here: https://esotericsoftware.com/spine-json-format
I don't think anyone on the Spine team knows much about Blender scripting, but we can answer questions about the JSON data format, so if you have any questions about it, don't hesitate to ask us.

People often export image sequences or video into After Effects or Blender for further processing. If it's for a game created in Blender, using a runtime would be ideal, but using a video for an intro or cut scene could be reasonable.
