  • Auto calculating weights NOT WORKING for paths

  • Изменено

I'd like to use a few bones to control a path, so I tried binding the path to the bones using weights but the auto calculation is not available (see the screenshot). I tried simpler paths with two to three bones, but it still didn't work. The "auto" button is always grey for any path with any bones.

I can paint the weights, but the auto calculation is not available. That button is always grey.

Very frustrating! Does anyone know why? Thank you.

yuloveta Unfortunately, auto calculating weights are not available for path, clipping, or bounding box attachments. Please setting weights manually for path attachments.

Misaki I see now, thanks. It'd be nice to have that for path in the future considering how often it's used on hair. Setting weights manually is very time-consuming

yuloveta Although a different approach, perhaps the physics constraints that will be added in Spine 4.2 might be useful in your workflow. I assume that you are using path-constraints for hairs to simplify control of the large number of hair bones, but with physics-constraints, you can animate hair using physics calculations, which may eliminate the need for using path-constraints itself. 4.2 will be released as a beta version first, so it may be quite a while before you can actually use it in your projects, but we hope you will try it when it is released.

          Misaki Sure. Thanks!
