Hello Nick, I just tested and I cannot reproduce the problem with the given information, could you provide more details?
Which are you clicking first? do you have filters active? How are you selecting them, in the tree or in the viewport? are you clicking on one and then on the other, or are you also using Ctrl or Shift while doing this?
